California so far…
So we are here in California living the life that God is leading us to live. We trust in faith that we are doing exactly what God intended for us, and living day to day on his provisions for us. To date we have stayed in three families’ homes, some with them and some while they were away. We have gotten temporary jobs, both with iD Tech, our previous employer (mine is at camp, Burke’s is at the headquarters). We’ve also been blessed by the unlimited use of a relative’s car and a great church to call home while we’re here.
Burke was brought onto the team to work on the launch of the new iD website which just went live last week. He’s enjoying working for such a great company. I was hired this summer to teach Adventures in Programming (you may remember I used to teach Adventures in Comic Creation), and you may be asking yourself what kind of programming experience I have… A teen camper in the Programming Academy (another iD camp) asked what languages I know and I surprised him with my answer of “Scratch.”
As far as adjusting back to American life, I think we’ve gotten used to the silly little differences. We are still trying (and usually failing:/ ) to resist the busy lifestyle, but we are proud to keep our distance from the typical rat race ideology that Americans are notorious for adopting.
That’s all for today, but check back because there will be another post tomorrow! (Hint: Check the main navigation above, next to About.)
Marta:
Yay! Another post from one of my favorite couples!
mom:
I think it would be easy for both you and Burke to learn another language. As soon as you find out where you’re going, pick up a class or book on tape (or whatever they’re called now)
