Arriving in California
We’re here! At long last we are in a slightly more permanent temporary living situation! Although we’re still living out of suitcases and probably will be all summer, it’s really nice to have something kind of like our own space.
When we arrived in LA, Burke’s cousin Dale picked us up from the airport and took us back to his house. He gave us lemons from his trees, water bottles from his stash, and took us out to dinner a Mexican restaurant.
That night we had a sleepy drive up to Fresno and were so happy to make it there! It had been a year and a half since we had last seen Burke’s parents and it was very nice to spend a few days with them. We also got to see Burke’s Grandma, Aunt, long lost friends, and this guy…
We also got to spend time with old friends and new friends and had a great time.
Last night after the fireworks, we left Fresno and moved up to the Bay Area. For the next three weeks we are house/kitty sitting and we are seriously so blessed for the opportunity. God has provided so much and will continue to throughout our working vacation in the US. In fact, Burke is at his first day of on-site work right now! Clearly, that means I am not currently working… Any suggestions?
Doug Falknor:
Hi Lizzie and Burke!
Yes, that was a quick couple of weeks. Sorry about the weather–it’s been hot & sunny since the day you left.
Burke, fireworks went off all around us. Star bursts, etc. They were just about above us. All the critters huddled around me. When the fireworks were thickest, I heard a Bonk on the sliding glass door. It wa Nici cat. He wanted in out of the rocket storm–you could smell the fireworks they were so hot & heavy–in fact you couldn’t smell anything else. I know, Burke, you would have loved that change from the hog smell–that ended a couple days after you left, too.
